The 8 Percent Festival

An event that asks the hard questions of the smartest people in the room.

The 8 Percent Festival is a 3-day, multi-speaker event that explores innovative ideas in business, creativity, and excellence across a selection of industries. At our event in 2016, the first two days of the event take place in our main venue, the Plaza Ballroom, and consisted of one opening and one closing keynote each day, and three panel discussions.

The panel discussions featured 4 – 5 guests, and focused on a central question that is currently affecting the industry – an issue that is poised to shake things up, or tear things down. We encouraged guests to not only give their opinion on the topic, but to collectively agree on an answer to the question.

An example of the type of question that we posed to the panels is “How can traditional film and television studios compete with the onslaught of free, unreviewed online content?” Our aim for these panels was to create an indepth, thoughtful, creative discussion that has the potential to spark real change in each industry.

Our 2016 event featured keynotes by:

*Art Alexakis – musician, artist, lead singer of Everclear
*Indira Naidoo – beloved journalist and presenter
*Nadine Champion – martial arts champ and cancer survivor
*Deng Thiak Adut – author and former child soldier
